A HAVANA GOLD relation to Erupt will carry the Global Applause colours of Dr Jonny Hon after selling for 60,000gns to Charlie Gordon-Watson at Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale on Thursday.

Consigned by The National Stud, he is the first foal out of Inner Sea, a placed Henrythenavigator half-sister to Grand Prix de Paris winner Erupt and Pretty Polly Stakes heroine Marie De Medici, herself dam of Group 3 winner Local Time.

"We like the stallion," said Gordon-Watson. "This is a nice horse, a good mover who has a bit of pedigree."

Delegator popularity continuing to grow

Delegator's good start from a handful of runners hasn't gone unnoticed and his growing popularity was borne out early doors by the sale of Kildaragh Stud's colt for 58,000gns to Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock

He returned a significant profit for his vendors Peter Kavanagh and Michael Downey, who paid just 5,500gns through Peter and Ross Doyle for the colt as a foal.

"I think the sire has made a very good start," said Brown. "He was a quality horse who ran second behind Sea The Stars in the 2,000 Guineas and he's a very good looking horse who gets good stock.

"Obviously I liked this horse. I'm not sure where he'll go yet."

His view was echoed by Kavanagh, who has been a supporter of Delegator since he retired to stud.

"He's just a little bit under the radar but has done very well with the few runners he had," said Kavanagh. "I think people are just starting to wake up to him. He's a good looking horse who had good form and was versatile. And he has an interesting pedigree. We've always had a few by him each year.

"This colt had a great swing to him and attitude, all the attributes to make a racehorse."

The colt is the first living foal out of Heartsease, a placed Pursuit Of Love sister to the Listed-placed Lovage.

Earlier in the morning, Alastair Donald gave 57,000gns for a Pastoral Pursuits colt from Redgate Bloodstock. He is a half-brother to the Group 3-placed Blood Moon and out of First Eclipse, a winning daughter of Fayruz.
