Have a party with Symposium
Ben Linfoot is backing a thriving filly from a red-hot yard ridden by an in-form jockey at Goodwood this afternoon.
Georgia Cox: In great form and has another good chance at Gooowood today
William Haggas' SYMPOSIUM improved when making all over six furlongs on soft ground last time and she could be hard to catch in the Bibendum Stakes at Goodwood this afternoon.
Georgia Cox, who has ridden nine winners from 28 rides (32 per cent win strike-rate) in August and September, rode her for the first time at Brighton just over two weeks ago and she got a lovely tune out of the Exceed And Excel filly.
The pair made all for a ready success by a length over Gay Kelleway's Minminwin, a filly that has franked the form with victory at Bath subsequently, and Symposium went up just 3lb for that win.
That looks on the lenient side and her trainer remains in red-hot form, his September win strike-rate now at 39 per cent (28 wins from 71) following another winner at Lingfield yesterday.
There are a few prominent racers in against her, but Symposium looks the only one likely to lead and with conditions on the soft side again it's going to be tough for the opposition to reel her in.
Course specialist Pettochside is a danger, while Straits Of Malacca ran well last time and should enjoy these conditions.
However, the former might be high enough in the weights now and the latter is often slowly away. He can't afford to give up too much ground early doors against a thriving filly like Symposium.
The general 5/1 about Haggas' charge is perfectly fair and she looks a good bet to enhance the already ridiculously healthy recent strike-rates of both trainer and jockey.
