Hills upbeat over Connection run
Charlie Hills is relishing a crack at the Breeders' Cup Mile with Dutch Connection at Santa Anita next weekend.
James McDonald riding Dutch Connection celebrates winning the Qatar Lennox Stakes at Goodwood earlier this year.
The November 5 showpiece is headlined by the clash between American superstar Tepin and the Henry Candy-trained Limato, but Hills is eager to gatecrash the party with his four-year-old.
The Dutch Art colt's seasonal highlight came in the Group Two Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, and while he has been campaigned mostly at a mile, he dropped to six and a half furlongs for the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on his penultimate start.
He was last seen finishing last of six to Vadamos in the Prix du Moulin at Chantilly.
Hills said: "I'm delighted with his weight and his work has been good as well. It looks a great race and I am looking forward to running him.
"It's a new track and the times have been quick, but it is quite spongy. If he gets a good draw and a good pace he will be fine."
