Hobson targets Auteuil Grade One
Richard Hobson understands that Chic Name faces a stiff task in the Grade One Prix Renaud du Vivier at Auteuil on Sunday.
Footpad: In the line-up at Auteuil on Sunday.
The four-year-old twice finished fourth at the same track on his last two starts but has ground to make up with the winners of those races, the Willie Mullins-trained Footpad and Device.
Hobson said: "He ran a nice race over two-mile-two when he last went out to France in September but unusually the ground was quicker than normal but he still finished fourth, picking up decent money.
"I'm expecting a good run but it's a very hot race with Footpad and Device in there.
"If it rains that will suit him as he stays all day. He'll come into his own over three miles but until those races start here for him he may as well keep running in France against his own age."
Daryl Jacob rides Footpad for the first time, with Ruby Walsh choosing to stay closer to home and the jockey told his exclusive blog for sportinglife: "Ruby Walsh is required elsewhere and this is a great ride to have.
"I think she has a massive chance and it's very exciting."
Nick Williams sends over Coo Star Sivola while Paul Nicholls saddles Adrien Du Pont, who defeated Chic Name into second place in a Grade One at Chepstow in January and finished fourth on his return to action at Cheltenham last month.
