Hogan ponders Dubai raid for Byron
Trainer Tom Hogan has quashed talk of retirement for Gordon Lord Byron following a disappointing run at Redcar last Saturday.
Gordon Lord Byron: Could head to Dubai
The three-time Group One scorer proved he is no back number when winning successive races during the summer, including the Group Two Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh in July.
However, Gordon Lord Byron has not been seriously competitive in six starts since then and he came home last of six runners on his latest appearance in the Listed Guisborough Stakes
Hogan is in no rush to make immediate plans, but is considering a potential trip to Dubai next year.
"He's a bit stiff and sore, but he'll be all right," said the County Tipperary-based trainer.
"I don't know where we'll go now, we'll see how he is.
"We might go to Dubai with him in the spring.
"There seems to be plenty of races out there for him on the grass over seven and six furlongs and he's dropped enough now to get into handicaps."
