Hurdling mooted for Morgan

Peter Bowen plans to send Henri Parry Morgan back over hurdles in a bid to restore his confidence.

Henri Parry Morgan could revert to hurdling

Having finished down the field in the Hennessy on his return to action in November, the nine-year-old, who was beaten into second in a Grade One at Aintree by Native River in April, has failed to complete in two subsequent starts.

Henri Parry Morgan unseated his rider in the Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby on Boxing Day and fell when still in contention in a Grade Three at Cheltenham on New Year's Day.

Bowen said: "To be honest, those two times he came down I think he would have won if he had stood up as he was still tanking.

"He has had a wind operation since his last run and although he wasn't making a noise, we just wondered if he was clipping his palate late on as he was jumping so well early on.

"I might give him a spin or two over hurdles as he could do with a bit of a confidence boost.

"He has got lots of talent. I am very disappointed as I thought he would be about top class now over fences.

"Obviously it would be nice to get him back in good form and back over fences for Aintree."
