Winning rider Tanabe said: "Since Mr. Copa [the owner] called me to ride instead of Yutaka [Take], who was riding Kitasan Black today, I have been looking forward to today.

"It was my first ride on him in two years, and he has grown up to be an easy horse to control. I am relieved that I could get a good result."

Copano Rickey's next target is the JBC Classic.
