Jenkins ready for Newbury move
Nicky Henderson has pencilled in a novice hurdle at Newbury's Hennessy meeting for the exciting Jenkins.
Jenkins will make his hurdling bow at Newbury
A nine-length winner on his racecourse debut in April he travelled to Punchestown for the Goffs Land Rover Bumper where he was pipped on the line after running keen throughout.
"All is well with him, there's a nice novice hurdle on the Friday of the Hennessy meeting and I thought he could start there," Henderson told TalkSport 2.
"He looked very impressive at Newbury and that was only supposed to be a prep for the Punchestown Bumper but he actually got beaten there and I think we'll just put a line through that day.
"He was the best horse in the race and things didn't go to plan.
"He's very laid back at home, he doesn't show off like Simonsig, Sprinter or Altior, but he has a great attitude to life, I like him."
Henderson will try to win the feature at Newbury again with Triolo D'Alene, who landed the prize three years ago.
"We're trying to get him ready for the Hennessy but I've wanted to run him for the past fortnight and the ground has been too quick," said Henderson.
"We have to be careful with him as he's huge.
"The National will be the plan again, last year everything went well until we went to bed on the Friday night and woke up to it pouring down which effectively ended his chance.
"He got round well but it's just not his game in soft ground."
