Jer’s Girl ‘stronger than ever’

Trainer Gavin Cromwell feels Jer's Girl is stronger than ever as the dual Grade One-winning filly begins to step up her preparations for the new campaign.

Jer's Girl: Stronger than ever

Hugely impressive at Aintree last December, the four-year-old then competed with credit in two major juvenile events at Leopardstown before she was snapped up by JP McManus ahead of a spring campaign.

It proved a shrewd move by the leading owner as Jer's Girl dominated her opponents in the Mares Novice Hurdle Championship Final at Fairyhouse before beating the boys in impressive fashion in the Champion Novice Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival.

Cromwell said: "She's been back in (work) a few weeks and looks good.

"She's got stronger and is cantering away, so we'll see how we go.

"I'm not sure where we'll start off. We'll obviously have a chat with JP and Frank Berry (racing manager) and make a plan.

"Last season was brilliant, but we know it's a big step up from being a novice – we're in the premier division now.

"The options in Ireland a fairly limited for her as most of the mares' races exclude Grade One winners."
