CHAMPION jockey Richard Johnson will ride The New One in the International Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday after the horse's intended rider Ryan Hatch was injured in a fall at the same course on Friday.

Winner of the International Hurdle in 2013 and 2014, The New One will face five rivals in Saturday's Grade 2, most notably My Tent Or Yours.

The New One and My Tent Or Yours have a rivalry stretching back to their bumper days more than four years ago as the pair fought out the finish to Aintree's Champion Bumper in 2012, with The New One narrowly coming out on top.

However, this time My Tent Or Yours, who in March came back from injury to finish runner-up in the Champion Hurdle for a second time, is favourite. He is 11-8, including with the sponsors.

The New One's much talked about chasing career has been put on hold to contest this race and he is 10-3 with Paddy Power for a third success in the race he last won in 2014.

With both horses generally seen as a little past their top-notch best, the race is not the two-horse contest it might have been a couple of years ago. The Dan Skelton-trained Mister Miyagi, sixth in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle in the spring, is available at 4-1 with StanJames and Paddy Power.

Old Guard (6-1, Boylesports), Court Minstrel (25-1, Paddy Power) and Melodic Rendezvous (40-1, bet365) complete the line-up.
