Johnson suffered a slight foot injury in a fall at Taunton on Sunday and decided to miss the meeting in the north-east, which was only given the go-ahead following five inspections.

"I had a nasty fall on Sykes at Taunton on Sunday and was pretty sore afterwards," Johnson told his Betway blog.

"My foot rolled over and I had some pain in my ribs so I gave Sedgefield a miss on Monday. Hopefully I'll be back at Market Rasen on Tuesday."

Johnson is jocked up on four horses in Lincolnshire.
