Kananee out at Newcastle

Kananee will attempt to maintain his unbeaten all-weather record in a fast-track qualifier at Newcastle on Thursday.

Saeed bin Suroor's charge heads to Gosforth Park on the back of a cosy three-quarter length success over a furlong further in a Polytrack nursery handicap at Kempton Park on November 2.

The Exceed And Excel colt's only defeat came when finishing last in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and he previously gained a pair of wins over five furlongs, including a comfortable debut success on Polytrack at Lingfield Park in April.

Bin Suroor reported: "Kananee won nicely last time at Kempton Park. He had one or two issues after he ran at Royal Ascot but improved physically and mentally for the break and is in good form at the moment.

"He tries hard in his races and acts very well on an All-Weather surface. The step back down in trip should be no problem and he should run another good race."

The race is Newcastle's first ever Fast-Track Qualifier and has seen five two-year-olds declared for the £20,000 32Red Casino Conditions Stakes.

The winner of the six-furlong Tapeta contest receives a free and automatic place in the £150,000 All-Weather Three-Year-Old Championships Conditions Stakes over the same distance on Polytrack at Lingfield Park on Good Friday, April 14.
