Kauto Star test for Amore Alato
Johnny Farrelly is to step Amore Alato back up to the top table for the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
Amore Alato (l) could head to Kempton over Christmas
The seven-year-old gained a first win over fences on his return to action in a Listed contest at Sandown on Sunday on what was his first start over three miles.
Plans are now in place to give Amore Alato a short break before taking aim at the Grade One prize, better known as the Feltham, at Kempton over Christmas.
Farrelly said: "He's come out of the race really well and is in good form. We will freshen him up now and give him a little break then aim him at the Kauto Star Novices' Chase.
"If he runs really well there then we would go for the Reynoldstown at Ascot after that.
"He's a nice horse. We just want to see where he can take us.
"To be fair, he should have won a Grade Two last season and he has now won a Listed chase so I don't think he needs any more any more experience before Kempton.
"He jumped well the other day and got the trip really well at Sandown. He was fit and ready for his first run.
"That was one of two races we had in mind for him and it worked out well.
"He was a bit unfortunate last season but he showed that he is plenty good enough."
