Jack Kennedy faces around four months on the sidelines after suffering a broken femur in a fall at Punchestown.

The rider, who landed this year's Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham on Labaik, suffered the injury when he was unshipped from Bobbie's Diamond at the last fence in the La Touche Restaurant Novice Chase on Wednesday evening.

The Turf Club's senior medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick is expecting the rider, who has broken a leg twice in the past year, to have another lengthy spell out of action.

He said: "He's going to have surgery this afternoon when they will put a nail through the bone.

"Four months is about the average recovery time for this kind of injury and it is a clean break.

"I'm sure he will respond well, but it's not at all like his other breaks as they were small bones and this is the biggest bone in the body."
