Sylvester Kirk is aiming high with Salouen
The Upper Lambourn handler has identified the mile Group One contest on October 2 as one of a number of potential targets both at home and abroad for the two-year-old.
After needing five attempts to get off the mark over an extended mile at Windsor, the son of Canford Cliffs put in a career-best performance out dropped back to seven furlongs when staying-on strongly to finish second to the smart South Seas in the Solario Stakes at Sandown.
Kirk said: "He is a nice horse and I think there is a lot more to come from him. I've messed up his nursery mark now so we might as well go have some fun with him.
"I've just put him in the Jean-Luc Lagardere on Arc day, while we will put him in the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket as well and there is also the Gran Criterium in Milan.
"At a more realistic level there is the Silver Tankard Stakes at Pontefract.
"He ran a great race at Sandown and he had some good horses behind him. He was flying at the end and you don't know what would have happened if it was another 100 yards longer."
