Kirk keeps the faith with Salouen
Sylvester Kirk will look to the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot with the luckless Salouen.
Badly hampered at least twice in the Investec Derby, last season's Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere runner-up was lucky to stay on his feet after one incident.
He ended up finishing 13th, beaten just over 11 lengths by surprise winner Wings Of Eagles.
"It was so unfortunate, it was like hitting an open ditch," said Kirk. "Even after the first knock he kept on picking up and might have got up to sixth or something and he was hampered again.
"For a yard like us to have gone close in the Derby would have been great, everyone would have noticed.
"He's come out of it fine. He's got a little cut on the bulb of his heel and is a bit tender but considering what he went through he got away with it.
"He'll stay at a mile and a half and go for the King Edward, if he's okay, in the next two weeks.
"He wouldn't have won but it would have been nice to see where he could have finished. There's a big race in him, I'm sure of that."
