GRADE 1 winner Bobby's Kitten will retire to Lanwades Stud in Newmarket for the 2017 breeding season and becomes the first son of Kitten's Joy to stand at stud in Europe.

The five-year-old, a homebred for Ken and Sarah Ramsey, is out of the winning Forestry mare Celestial Woods and is a brother to dual Grade 2 scorer Camelot Kitten and the winner Major Magic.

Bobby's Kitten began his career in America with Chad Brown and as a two-year-old he finished third on his debut before landing two races in a row, including in the Grade 3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont. He finished his juvenile year with a third-placed finish behind Outstrip in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.

At three, he went on to win three races and sealed the biggest victory of his career when getting the better of No Nay Never by half-a-length to land the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint in 2014.

After finishing down the field in three starts at four, he was transferred to the care of Dermot Weld ahead of a tilt at Royal Ascot this year. However, the entire only ran once for Weld when he landed the Listed Cork Stakes in March.

Kirsten Rausing, owner and general manager of Lanwades Stud, said: "We are delighted and proud here at Lanwades to have acquired such an exciting stallion prospect.

"Bobby's Kitten is a Graded stakes winner at two and three in the US, and a stakes winner in Ireland this year. His notable affinity for turf racing, marvellous temperament, outstanding physique and racing durability, will significantly complement our other stallions.

"In addition to this, he will of course provide a fantastic outcross opportunity for the majority of European mares."

A fee has yet to be announced for Bobby's Kitten.
