Lee to take Shloer Gamble

Top Gamble is "almost certain" to make his reappearance in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham on Sunday – rather than head to Ireland on the same day.

Top Gamble could run at Cheltenham on Sunday

Kerry Lee's high-class performer rounded off last season in great style, readily defeating Dodging Bullets in the Game Spirit at Newbury before signing off with another impressive victory in the Normans Grove Chase at Fairyhouse.

Lee has, however, decided against running the eight-year-old under top weight in the BetVictor Gold Cup on Saturday.

And while he also received an entry in thetote.com Fortria Chase at Navan on Sunday, he is likely to make his comeback at Prestbury Park.

"As long as they get the rain they're meant to on Saturday, he's almost certain to run in the Shloer on Sunday," said the Presteigne-based trainer.

"Richard Johnson has been confirmed for the ride this morning and we're looking forward to it."

Top Gamble's potential rivals in the two-mile Grade Two include Nicky Henderson's 2013 Arkle Trophy hero Simonsig, Colin Tizzard's new recruit Fox Norton and Henry de Bromhead's Irish challenger Special Tiara.
