Light doubtful for Curragh

Dermot Weld needs rain for Making Light

Dermot Weld thinks the dry weather will prevent him from running Making Light in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas on Sunday.

Owned by Moyglare Stud, the Tamayuz filly won two of her three starts as a juvenile, including the Group Three Killavullan Stakes.

Weld is keen to test her against the best, but her need for cut in the ground is likely to see her miss out on the fillies' Classic.

"The intention is to run, providing we get plenty of rain, which is doubtful," Weld told At The Races.

"I want to run but I'd say she's unlikely as she loves a nice ease in the ground. It's beautiful weather, the track is in great shape, but getting faster all the time.

"Unless we had a dramatic change in the weather, she won't run.

"She's a very good Group-winning filly, but she really loves an ease in the ground and we'll wait until we get it for her."
