Litigant set for Royal-Oak run
Litigant is set to make a swift reappearance in the Prix Royal-Oak at Saint-Cloud on Sunday.
Litigant will make a quick return to action
Last season's Ebor and November Handicap hero made his first competitive appearance in almost a year in the British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot on Saturday and delighted trainer Joe Tuite in finishing a close-up sixth.
The Lambourn-based trainer admits it is not ideal to be running his stable star again just eight days later, but feels there is nothing to lose at this late stage of the campaign.
Tuite said: "He seems to have out of the race very well and the plan is for him to go to France at the weekend for the Prix Royal-Oak.
"He was running against the best stayers in Britain and Ireland on Saturday.
"It was his first run of the year and he was beaten less than six lengths, so you have to be delighted with him.
"I'm also not so sure how well he likes Ascot. James (Doyle) said he was never settled and he was always doing just a bit too much.
"The time is obviously not perfect – ideally you'd like a fortnight before running him again – but he's bounced out of Ascot well and we're happy to roll the dice and see what we can do.
"George (Baker) will ride him."
