Longsdon hopes for Royal winner

Charlie Longsdon is looking forward to another big run from Forth Bridge in the feature race at Musselburgh on Wednesday.

Charlie Longsdon hopes for a big run from Forth Bridge

Owned and bred by the Queen, the Oxfordshire raider is set to face eight rivals in the £20,000 Racing UK Anywhere Introductory Juvenile Hurdle.

Forth Bridge is partnered by Brian Hughes who is back at the scene of his remarkable five-timer earlier this autumn.

Formerly trained on the Flat by Michael Bell, he had a rating of 83 on the level and was just pipped by a neck by Coeur De Lion on his hurdling debut at Wetherby last month.

Longsdon said: "He is a lovely recruit from the Flat and he jumps well.

"Rather frustratingly he finished second at Wetherby and looking like the winner jumping the last. He'll come on for the run and looks a good prospect for juvenile hurdles this season."

Among the opposition to Forth Bridge are hurdle debutants Angel In The Snow and Royal Reserve.

The former, a Flat maiden, is trained by in-form Brian Ellison while the latter, a raider from Ian Williams' Worcestershire stable has wins at Salisbury and Lingfield to his credit on the level.

The card gets underway with Castletown Bridge bidding to follow up last month's course win in the Interactive Novices' Limited Handicap Chase for the Irish handler Paul Stafford and conditional pilot Adam Short.
