Magnificent seven for Ascot punter
Almost 20 years to the day since Frankie Dettori's 'Magnificent Seven', a Sky Bet punter went through the card at Ascot to win more than £56,000.
Shamshon (r) edges a thrilling finale
As well as selecting all six winners at the Berkshire venue, where Dettori won all seven races on the same weekend back in 1996, the inspired punter added the bookmaker's feature Price Boost to his multiples on which he staked the grand sum of £12.42.
The customer combined the seven selections in four-fold, five-fold, six-fold and seven-fold accumulators and his day got off to the perfect start when the Dettori-ridden Eternally ran out an easy winner of the Listed October Stakes.
The seven-fold looked like coming to grief for much of the following Cumberland Lodge Stakes but William Buick drive Move Up past favourite Arab Spring in the dying strides to win by a neck but it was even closer in the closing leg of the multiples.
The first three home in the McGee Group Joining Jack Handicap were separated by just a short head and a neck with the course commentator even calling the wrong winner but fortunately for the Sky Bet customer, Jamie Spencer had timed his challenge to perfection aboard Shamson.

Sky Bet's racing PR manager Michael Shinners said: "It seems appropriate in the week that we've been celebrating Frankie Dettori's 'Magnificent Seven' that one of our customers should go through the card at Ascot and it has to be said that it was another truly magnificent performance.
"It was heart-in-the-mouth time for the customer with the photo finish in the last leg and I hope the old heart rate has settled down after that excitement.
"Taking advantage of the Price Boost on Alice Springs was a shrewd move and I wonder if the customer will be playing any of the winnings up on Chantilly on Sunday where Sky Bet are paying four places in both the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye."
The winning selections were:
Four-folds – 10p e.w. lines costing £7, won £3,850.47
Five-folds – 9p e.w. lines costing £3.78, won £10,628.85
Six-folds – 9p e.w. lines costing £1.26, won £17,416.26
Seven-fold – 19p e.w. costing 38p, won £24,745.50
Total stakes: £12.42; total winnings: £56,641.08
