Mahon is also set to take over from his father, Rory Mahon, who will continue to work with the Juddmonte Group in an advisory role, as stud director at Juddmonte Ireland at the end of 2017.

Douglas Erskine Crum, Juddmonte Group chief executive, said: "Rory Mahon has been a key figure in Juddmonte's success for over 34 years. No less than 72 individual Group 1 winners, of which 61 were homebred, have been managed and looked after by Rory from when they were weaned to when they joined their trainers.

"Everyone at Juddmonte was extremely proud of Rory when he was deservedly presented with the Special Recognition Award at the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Annual Racing and Breeding Awards in January 2015.

"We are delighted that Rory will continue to be involved with Juddmonte, albeit at a steadier pace."
