THE final race on Wolverhampton's evening card on Thursday, the 1m1½f maiden at 9.15pm, sees Acrux bidding to improve on his first appearance on a racecourse. when he finished last of seven runners in a 1m2½f maiden at Doncaster.
Acrux, a three-year-old son of Dansili trained by David Lanigan, is a Niarchos family homebred from one of their most successful families with two-time champion European older mare Shiva and 2007 Oaks heroine Light Shift – dam of last month's Group 3 Gordon Stakes winner Ulysses – appearing in the pedigree.
Out of the 7f winner and French Group 3 runner-up Ikat, a Pivotal half-sister to the Group 2 Prix d'Harcourt hero Smoking Sun, he is a half-brother to Main Sequence who was originally trained by Lanigan to triumph in the Group 3 Lingfield Derby Trial before finishing runner-up to Camelot in the 2012 Derby.
After being switched to US-based trainer Graham Motion, the son of Aldebaran was crowned champion older horse in 2014 following an unbeaten five-year-old campaign that saw him victorious in four Grade 1 contests including in the Breeders' Cup Turf.
Leicester hosts sibling to Kodi Bear in nursery handicap
The 6f fillies' nursery handicap at Leicester sees a couple of well-related juveniles aiming to add another win to their race record at 3.10pm.
Parsnip was sent off favourite for her second start after landing a Chepstow 6f maiden on debut for trainer Michael Bell. However, the daughter of Zoffany could finish only eighth in the 6f nursery handicap at Newmarket last month.

She is one of eight scorers produced by the unraced Mujtahid mare Hawattef alongside close relative Kodi Bear, the winner of last season's Group 2 Celebration Mile and Group 3 Sovereign Stakes.
Hawattef's tenth foal, Parsnip is also a half-sister to the 5f winner Lady Susy – dam of Italian Listed victors Rivertime and Storm Of Wind – and shares her page with triple Group 1-winning miler Esoterique.
Offered by Ballyphilip Stud at Book 2 of last year's Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Parsnip was bought by Charlie Gordon-Watson Bloodstock on behalf of Lady Bamford for 280,000gns, a sum that saw the filly tied for the sale's third priciest lot.
The Marco Botti-trained Pranceleya will be aiming to record a second success having claimed a narrow victory over 6f at Yarmouth last month.
She is one of seventeen individual winners sired in Britain and Ireland [up to Tuesday] by the Tally-Ho Stud resident Sir Prancealot, who is the clear leader in the race for champion first-season sires honours with 17 individual winners, six more than his nearest pursuer, Helmet.
Out of the twice-placed Rock Of Gibraltar mare Good For Her, a three-parts sister to 2010 Phoenix Stakes hero Zoffany who was crowned last year's champion freshman sire, Pranceleya is a half-sister to two 5f winners, Kyllach Me and Sandra's Secret.
Bred by Tally-Ho Stud, Pranceleya was offered by the County Westmeath stud at this year's Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale where she was purchased by Peter Harper for £20,000.
Smart pedigrees on show in Tipperary nursery handicap
The second race at Tipperary, a 7½f nursery handicap, sees leading trainers Aidan O'Brien and Jim Bolger represented by a couple of well-related juveniles at 5.10pm.
Utah, a €260,000 purchase by Townley Hall Bloodstock at last year's Goffs Orby Yearling Sale, won a mile maiden at the Curragh on his previous start for O'Brien
The son of Galileo was bred by the Healing Music Partnership out of the 7f winner Healing Music, a Listed-placed Bering half-sister to US Grade 2 winner Herboriste.
Healing Music has produced three winners with Utah being a brother to the winning miler and 2010 Derby runner-up At First Sight and half-brother to the Montjeu gelding Kudu Huraa.
Bolger sends his homebred filly Legitimus to the track for her third start, having won a 7f maiden at Gowran Park two weeks ago.
She is the third foal produced by the Galileo mare Imeall Na Speire, an unraced half-sister to Galatee who Bolger trained to win the Group 3 Blue Wind Stakes and Listed Victor McCalmont Stakes before retiring to the paddocks where she has foaled Group 2 winners Dartmouth and Manatee.
