Marsha to race on in 2017

Sir Mark Prescott's flying filly Marsha has run her last race of the season but will stay in training next year.

The three-year-old, who is owned by the Elite Racing Club, produced a massive career-best to win the Prix de l'Abbaye by three-quarters of a length from Aidan O'Brien's Washington DC with favourite Mecca's Angel only third.

Prescott did not even go to Chantilly and admitted he was surprised by her victory.

"It was jolly good to watch and much enjoyed. I just watched in silence and was waiting for Mr O'Brien to come flying past at the end," he said.

"I thought the draw (12) would be it for us. It shows you what sprint form is like. She and Ron Harris' horse (Just Glamorous) met three weeks before. He beat us three lengths and we could never get near.

"This time we won and he was last. How can you explain that? She won't run again this season and will now enjoy the winter off. Apparently she stays in training next year."
