Martin looks to land York prize

Tony Martin is returning to York on Friday with the aim of winning another big pot – this time with Landsman.

Tony Martin is targeting another York prize

On Martin's last visit to the Knavesmire he landed a memorable Ebor victory with Melbourne-bound Heartbreak City, sparking scenes of celebration which will not be forgotten quickly.

This time the dual-purpose handler is targeting the #50,000 Stakes with a horse making his debut for the yard having shown smart form for Johnny Murtagh.

"We haven't had him that long. He seems a nice horse, we're quite happy with him and he looks a nice prospect going forward," said Martin.

"We're on a learning mission with him really on Friday and we're just hoping he will put up a good account.

"I'd say, the few little bits that we've done with him at home, he looks as if he'll stay so that's why we've stepped him up in trip.

"The Ebor was a great day. Fortunately enough, it went our way on the day.

"It's a close-knit operation and it was just very satisfactory when it worked out like that."

Landsman is the sole Irish challenger in a 14-strong field.

Other contenders include Andrew Balding's The Graduate, the Roger Charlton-trained Blakeney Point and Cape Cova from John Gosden's stable, all of whom have won on their last two starts.
