Meade mulls Rookie options

Martyn Meade is weighing up a number of Group-race options at home and abroad for Irish Rookie, including the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville later this month.

Irish Rookie has a number of options

Following her luckless run in defeat in a Listed contest at Ascot last month, the four-year-old is likely to be stepped back up to Pattern race level on her next start.

Although placed in a number of Group races, the daughter of Azamour has not won since landing a Listed contest at Newmarket in 2014 on her final start as a juvenile.

The Newmarket handler said: “We have given her a bit of time off but she has come out of the last race well and we will get going very soon.

“It is just a case of which way we go with her. The Celebration Mile is an option as is the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown, then there is the Romanet in France.”
