Mehronissa heading to Ascot
Ed Vaughan is re-routing Mehronissa to Ascot next Saturday after deciding not to send her to Ireland this weekend.
Mehronissa (second left, white cap): Will race at Ascot
The prospect of unsuitable conditions persuaded Vaughan not to declare his sprinter for the Group Three Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
The Newmarket trainer now plans to run the four-year-old filly in the Group Three John Guest Bengough Stakes.
Mehronissa is already a Listed winner, having landed the Flying Fillies' Stakes at Pontefract last month.
That success prompted connections to stump up the supplementary fee for the Group One 32Red Sprint Cup at Haydock.
She did not let them down, running a tremendous race to finish fourth behind Quiet Reflection.
"I spoke to Kevin Prendergast and he said the ground was pretty soft and holding at the Curragh so I decided not to run her on Sunday (in the Renaissance Stakes)," said Vaughan.
"She likes a bit of juice but I don't think she wants it as soft that, so I'm going to run her in the Bengough Stakes next week at Ascot.
"She ran a great race at Haydock and we were delighted."
