Midterm in Prix Niel frame
Sir Michael Stoute's Midterm is likely to return to action in Sunday's Prix Niel at Chantilly.
Midterm: Likely to run in the Prix Niel
The three-year-old has been off the track since disappointing when favourite in the Dante Stakes at York, after which it transpired he had picked up an injury.
Midterm has been catching the eye of the Newmarket gallop watchers in recent weeks and connections are hoping the son of Galileo can bounce back to the kind of form that saw him win Sandown's Classic Trial earlier in the year.
Owner Khalid Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said: "Midterm has been going nicely at home and has various options in the coming weeks.
"As it stands, his primary one at the moment looks like being the Prix Niel on Sunday.
"That looks likely at this stage, although there are still a few i's to dot and t's to cross.
"Because he is running in an Arc trial does not mean we are thinking of running him in the Arc itself, but on the other hand we're not saying he can't either.
"He's obviously been off a while so we'll just have to see how he gets on.
"Given we haven't really seen what he is capable of, I'd have said there's a good chance he'll be staying in training but ultimately that will be down to the Prince to decide."
