Might Bite soars to success

Might Bite showed no ill-effects from his last-fence Kempton mishap when winning easily at Doncaster on Thursday.

Might Bite wins at Doncaster

Nicky Henderson's eight-year-old was 10 lengths clear and in full control of the Grade One Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day, only for him to get the last obstacle all wrong allowing Royal Vacation to land the spoils.

His trainer was keen to find him an easy confidence-building race following that, with the Soar Enterprises Online Ltd Novices' Chase fitting the bill.

Might Bite was sent off the 1-7 favourite and there was never a moment's doubt, with main market rival Ma Du Fou, who was sent off 9-2, departing on the second circuit.

That allowed Nico de Boinville to pop Might Bite over the last few fences, with his only remaining rival Gorran Haven a couple of obstacles behind.

Sky Bet left Might Bite unchanged at 4-1 in their Non Runner No Bet RSA Chase market at the Cheltenham Festival.

De Boinville said: "I enjoyed that, it was lovely and we just need him to get his confidence back. I think he is the sort of horse who will be better in a better race. You can be more aggressive on him and his jumping comes to hand the stronger he goes.

"He's got an awful lot of potential and is going the right way. We just need to keep his jumping low and flat."
