Mirage Dancer wins at Doncaster

Mirage Dancer was yet another debut winner for Frankel after he picked up late in the second division of the 188Bet British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden at Doncaster.

Ryan Moore: On the mark at Doncaster on Friday.

Out of a Grade One winner in Heat Haze, the Sir Michael Stoute-trained youngster was sent off the 7/4 favourite in a field of 12.

Victory looked far from certain at halfway as Ryan Moore began rowing away and there was little response from his mount.

Tafaakhor and Victory Angel pulled clear, but as Mirage Dancer veered towards the far rail he really found his stride in the final furlong and finished to great effect, eventually winning by half a length.

George Galecki, Stoute's representative, said: "He's still a bit green but it was first time out, obviously.

"Looking at that he needs further (than seven furlongs) but you'd have to be happy with that.

"We'll all be awaiting further improvement. Ryan said he stayed on nicely but when he hit the front he pricked his ears."
