Moon Racer on track for Supreme

Moon Racer's Cheltenham Festival target remains the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle despite Faugheen being ruled out of the Champion Hurdle.

Moon Racer (orange) will stick to novice company

David Pipe has given the Champion Bumper winner of 2015 an entry in the opening day highlight, but he is likely to stick to novice company,

He has not been seen since November and while Pipe confirmed he was in rude health, Moon Racer is now likely to head to the Festival without the aid of another run.

"Social media is a wonderful way of keeping racing enthusiasts connected, but it can sometimes lead to Chinese whispers that are wholly inaccurate," the trainer told www.davidpipe.com.

"Consequently I would like to report that Moon Racer is still very much on course for the Cheltenham Festival.

"We may get a little run into him somewhere, although at this stage he is likely to go straight to Cheltenham next month. The main objective remains the Supreme Novices' Hurdle."

Moon Racer is Sky Bet's 5/1 second-favourite for the race they sponsor, behind impressive maiden hurdle winner, Melon.

"It's a great boost to the race to have a former Festival winner in the line-up," said Sky Bet's Michael Shinners.

"Moon Racer probably sets the standard for all the others to aim at and we wouldn't be surprised to see money for him given that he has his target confirmed and we're now non-runner/no bet."
