Moore and Johnston win awards

Jockey Ryan Moore (r) won the jockeys' title

Ryan Moore clinched the jockeys' title at Glorious Goodwood with five winners thanks to having a sole success on the final day's card.

Victory on Crystal Ocean in the Qatar Gordon Stakes was enough for Moore to take the honours.

Three riders were tied on four winners at the start of the day, but William Buick was in action at Doncaster and Andrea Atzeni was out of luck before moving on to Lingfield's evening meeting before Goodwood was over.

Moore was winning his fourth Goodwood title and gave his #1,000 to the Just Giving Page for stalls handler Steven Yarborough, who tragically died in an accident at Haydock last month.

He said: "The weather went against me the first two days, where I had a few non-runners. That was unfortunate, but I knew I had some good rides the second half of the week.

"Winter (Nassau Stakes) would be the winner of the meeting. I was very happy with her and every time I look back at it I was very happy with it."

Mark Johnston claimed the trainers' prize for the 11th time thanks to a double with Soldier In Acton and Dee Ex Bee that took his tally for the week to four.

"It does mean a lot. I thought the runners were a bit thin on the ground in comparison with other years," said the Middleham handler.

"I certainly didn't come into it confident at all. There have been a few different trainers who have been top. I was not in the lead this morning and after Andrew Balding won the first he went further clear.

"The two-year-olds probably mean the most as that is what dreams are about, as having first-time winners at a meeting like this you can then dream about later in the season."
