Moore sings son’s praises

Gary Moore was full of praise for son, Ryan

Ryan Moore rode a rare winner for his trainer father Gary as he steered Sing Out Loud to victory in the Read Silvestre De Sousa At 188Bet Novice Auction Stakes at Lingfield.

Moore has ridden just a handful of horses for his Lower Beeding-based parent this year, but his decision to team up with 3-1 shot Sing Out Loud paid dividends in the six-furlong heat.

The Vocalised gelding finished down the field in a seven-furlong maiden at Glorious Goodwood on his racecourse bow, but stepped up on that effort to run out a cosy two-and-a-half-length winner for the Moore team at the Surrey venue.

Moore snr was thrilled to have his son, who is widely acknowledged as one of the best in the world, aboard on this occasion.

He said: "It's good to have him. He's very lucky as he has one of the best jobs in the world (as retained rider to the Coolmore team), but there's a reason he has that job.

"He's a very nice horse. I was slightly disappointed with his run at Goodwood, I thought he would run better than that but it just didn't quite work out.

"Ryan actually said he liked him! He really is a horse for the future, so hopefully it's onwards and upwards from here."

Moore was completing a double having earlier partnered Radio Source (evens favourite) to win the Injured Jockeys Fund EBF Novice Stakes for Sir Michael Stoute.

Josephine Gordon finished third aboard Adulate in that event but was banned for three days (September 4-6 inclusive) after being judged guilty of careless riding.

Sir Mark Prescott was on the scoresheet as Piedita (4-6 favourite) made it two wins on the bounce in the Play Casino At 188Bet Handicap in the hands of Luke Morris.

Mark Johnston claimed his 165th winner of the year as Peach Melba (2-1) landed the feature event of the day, EBF 'Breeders' Series' Fillies' Handicap, by four and a half lengths for Joe Fanning.

Tom Queally and David Lanigan claimed the opening Sign Up To 188Bet Affiliates Handicap with Take A Turn (8-1) while Pete So High (evens favourite) was a two-and-a-half-length victor in the 188bet.co.uk Handicap for Richard Hannon and Silvestre de Sousa.
