Moore stars on Ballet Concerto

Ballet Concerto ridden by Ryan Moore wins the Betway Spring Mile Handicap Stakes

Ryan Moore completed a quick double when steering home top weight Ballet Concerto to victory in the Betway Spring Mile Handicap.

Already successful on Tupi for Richard Hannon in the opener, it was quite fitting that the horse who missed the cut for the Lincoln by one, came out on top in the consolation event.

The field split into two main groups, with last year's winner Lord Of The Rock leading the near-side batch and Father Bertie taking along the far-side lot.

The far side had the edge and it was Ballet Concerto (8-1) who showed his class from stall six to lift the prize for trainer Sir Michael Stoute.

Sinfonietta tried hard to close in second and was beaten a length and three-quarters, with Candelisa and Swift Emperor third and fourth respectively.

There were no winning connections present, but David Menuisier was thrilled with the effort of bottom weight Sinfonietta.

"I think he must have been second eight or nine times now," said the trainer.

"He doesn't need much work and he goes well fresh.

"I was delighted when he just got into the race and he's just a super horse.

"We can't really make plans as he must have soft ground so we'll just go where the ground is soft.

"You've got to love this horse."
