Murphy tempted by Irish Derby tilt

Homesman ridden by Ryan Moore (right) beats Born To Sea

Owner-trainer Joe Murphy is considering supplementing Born To Play for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh on July 1.

The son of Born To Sea is still a maiden but has run with great promise in all three starts so far, no more so than on Sunday when he got to within a head of the Aidan O'Brien-trained Homesman in the Group Three Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh.

"We're more than likely going to supplement him," said the County Tipperary handler.

"He might go for a race like the Nijinsky Stakes at Leopardstown first.

"If you look at his form – he was fourth first time out (behind Irish 2,000 Guineas third Irishcorrespondent) and he should have won the second day. The fourth and sixth behind him that day have won since.

"He could be a very good horse. His dam is a full sister to Holy Roman Emperor."
