My Dream Boat back for more next year

Trainer Clive Cox is looking forward to testing My Dream Boat over longer distances next season following his admirable effort in Saturday's Qipco Champion Stakes.

My Dream Boat: Could step up in trip next year

A surprise winner of the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, the four-year-old has come up a little short at the very highest level since.

However, he performed creditably in both the Coral-Eclipse and the Irish Champion Stakes before finishing fourth behind French superstar Almanzor, Arc heroine Found and last season's Irish Derby winner Jack Hobbs on Champions Day.

"He was beaten by two Derby winners and an Arc winner," Cox told At The Races.

"I'm delighted he's enjoyed a wonderful season. He's progressed so much, mentally and physically, he's kept improving.

"I'm delighted he stays in training. I think we all hoped and believed we could go a bit further with him next year and I think the way he ran confirmed that's not a silly idea."

Cox revealed Profitable might have one more race before being retired to stud.

The King's Stand Stakes winner holds an entry in the Longines Hong Kong Sprint on December 11.

"He's not gone to stud yet," said Cox.

"He did tremendously well. To win a Group One, Two and Three – he had a super summer.

"We're taking it step by step and not quite sure where we go from here.

"He has an entry in the Hong Kong race and that's not until the beginning of December and we'll see how he is in the meantime."

The Lambourn trainer has high hopes for the miler Zonderland, whose progressive three-year-old campaign saw him lift the Listed Heron Stakes and the Group three Sovereign Stakes.

"He's packed up for the winter. He too had a good summer and the horse (Lightning Spear) that beat him in the Celebration Mile ran well on Saturday (in the QEII at Ascot)," said Cox.

"His form is rock solid and he's done very well throughout this year, with further progress it's exciting for next year with him."
