Nakeeta set for redemption bid

No Heretic wins last year's Chester Cup

Nakeeta, who suffered a narrow defeat in last year's 188Bet Chester Cup Handicap, is among 36 horses left in the Roodee showpiece on Wednesday following the confirmation stage.

Iain Jardine's stayer looks like aiming to go one better after being short headed by No Heretic in the two-and-a-quarter-mile test 12 months ago.

The 2014 winner Suegioo is among five possibles from the Richard Fahey stable along with Angel Gabrial, Gabrial The Hero, Gabrial's King and Gabrial's Star. All five are owned by Dr Marwan Koukash. He has a sixth entry in Duke Of Clarence trained by Ian Williams.

Ante-post favourite Sea Of Heaven, from Sir Mark Prescott's stable, is in the mix for the prize with the weights are headed by the Keith Dalgleish-trained Maleficent Queen. There are two possibles from Ireland – Dermot Weld's Zafayan and Golden Spear, trained by Tony Martin.
