Newbury forced to inspect

This afternoon's jumps meeting at Newbury must pass an impromptu 9.30am inspection.

Newbury: 930 inspection

With temperatures having surprisingly plummeted overnight, course officials must now assess conditions later in the day.

A tweet issued by Newbury read: "Temperature unexpectedly dropped to minus 4C overnight. We have called a precautionary inspection at 9.30am."

Daytime temperatures at the Berkshire circuit are forecast to reach a maximum of 5C.

Newbury head of communications Andy Clifton said: "We've covered the take-offs and landings, but it wasn't forecast to get that low overnight.

"The ground temperatures are well above freezing, but we'll get a better idea after dawn."
