RACING at Newbury on Friday is subject to a 7.30am inspection after nearly three inches of rain fell at the course in the last 24 hours.

The going overnight at Newbury had been given as good to firm, but 74mm of rain – with more forecast to come in before racing – resulted in the ground being changed to heavy on Friday morning.

The highlight of the eight-race card is the Listed Dubai Duty Free Stakes, while the track hosts the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup and Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes on Saturday.

Should racing get the go ahead on Friday, several non-runners can be expected given the significant change in going.
