Nice idea for Uttoxeter gains
Chris Wilson says Nice Thoughts can atone for an odds-on reverse last time at Uttoxeter on Sunday – he has a tip in every race.
David Pipe can strike with Nice Thoughts at Uttoxeter
GOWRAN: 2.20 Lady Derrynane, 2.50 Rekindling, 3.20 Discipline, 3.50 Queluz, 4.20 Nannys Well, 4.50 Papal Parade, 5.20 Massayan, 5.50 Ample Sufficiency.
PLUMPTON: 2.00 Bleu Et Noir, 2.30 Regulation, 3.00 Shady Glen, 3.30 Jim Dandy, 4.00 Knight Bachelor, 4.30 Empty The Tank, 5.00 Mondello.
UTTOXETER: 1.40 Burrows Lane, 2.10 Better Days, 2.40 NICE THOUGHTS (NAP), 3.10 Knight's Parade, 3.40 Mash Potato, 4.10 Surf And Turf, 4.40 Brunton Blue, 5.10 The Kvilleken.
Nice Thoughts can atone for an odds-on reverse on his most recent outing when he lines up at Uttoxeter.
David Pipe's inmate was well fancied in a two-mile maiden hurdle at Worcester last month, but he could only finish fourth.
That might not tell the full story, though, as he clouted the second-last flight and lost vital momentum when it finally looked like he was getting serious.
Despite having done pretty well in three previous tries over hurdles, Nice Thoughts lacked acceleration at Worcester, so the decision to step up to two and a half miles looks wise.
The Sentinel Green 'Un Handicap Hurdle looks an eminently winnable encounter for the Pipe runner, who is on a reasonable mark on his first start in this sphere of racing.
It is quite difficult to look beyond Knight Bachelor in the totetrifecta Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton.
The Warren Greatrex-trained six-year-old is in fantastic form, having won his last three races in the manner of a horse that still has plenty to offer.
And though he has soared through the ratings, his last triumph should have set him up nicely for a return to handicapping.
Sent off a 4/7 chance for a two-and-a-half-mile novice hurdle at Worcester, Knight Bachelor absolutely ruled the school, winning by an eased-down five lengths without Gavin Sheehan ever getting serious.
He has now done enough to have a go over three miles, which hardly looks a fanciful project from what we have seen so far.
Assuming the rain keeps away, Knight Bachelor must have every chance.
Discipline can lay down the law in the Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes at Gowran.
Sir Michael Stoute and Marco Botti are both represented in the Group Three, but it could pay to side with Dermot Weld's fast-improving filly.
The daughter of Dansili, owned by Khalid Abdullah, will find this tough against older horses, but she has really caught the eye on three previous runs this year.
A heavy-ground winner on her debut at Gowran in April, Discipline then got to within a head of Bocca Baciata over this course and distance in a Listed race a few weeks later.
With her conqueror that day now a Group Two winner, the form obviously looks sweet.
She was sent to Naas for an Oaks trial in June and stayed on neatly late on to collar Earring, herself no slouch, by half a length.
It will be interesting, in time, to see Weld roll the dice with Discipline over a mile and a half, but this looks a good opportunity for a horse who could easily be a Group One performer if she continues to progress.
