Nicholls ponders Cheltenham for Clan

Paul Nicholls is considering the BetBright Dipper Novices' Chase at Cheltenham on New Year's Day as the next target for Clan Des Obeaux.

Clan Des Obeaux: Could go for the Dipper

Despite having met with defeat on his chasing bow at Chepstow, the four-year-old, part-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson, turned in a much-improved effort on his second start over fences when he easily won a Grade Two at Newbury last month.

Clan Des Obeaux's next start is, however, subject to suitable ground conditions.

Nicholls said: "We've not made any plans, but he won't go anywhere until the rain arrives.

"He hasn't got any entries yet, but he could go to Cheltenham for the Dipper.

"Paul Barber (part-owner) doesn't like to run them too much in a hurry.

"I am sure we will find a race around Christmas time or in January for him."
