LIMINI and Tombstone have not been supplemented for Tuesday's Stan James Champion Hurdle, with connections looking at alternatives to the day one highlight.

Limini, winner of last year's Mares' Novices' Hurdle, was a 6-1 chance for the Champion Hurdle. Tombstone, 12-1 for the Champion Hurdle, heads for the Coral Cup on Wednesday instead.

Explaining the decision to run in the Coral Cup instead of the Champion Hurdle, Eddie O'Leary, racing manager for Tombstone's owner Gigginstown House Stud, said: "It's purely based on the fact we want to look after Tombstone this year and save him for next year, when we think he will make a lovely chaser.

"We have always had him down as a horse for fences but he had a little setback, hence why he only made his seasonal debut at Navan in January before winning the Red Mills Hurdle at Gowran Park last month."

Other options

While not in the Champion Hurdle, Limini does remain among the 28 acceptors for the Grade 1 OLBG Mares' Hurdle, along with Vroum Vroum Mag and Apple's Jade.

Vroum Vroum Mag was also left in the race for which Limini was not supplemented, with Buveur D'Air and Yanworth heading the 13 confirmations for the day one feature. Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle fancy Moon Racer also remains doubly engaged.

Moon Racer was among the 26 still in the Supreme, as was Harry Fry's Neon Wolf, but Finian's Oscar and the JP McManus-owned trio of Consul De Thaix, Defi Du Seuil and Charli Parcs were all removed.

Yorkhill was among 15 confirmations for the Racing Post Arkle, along with favourite Altior. A total of 26 remain in the JT McNamara National Hunt Chase.

There were no notable withdrawals from either of the day one handicaps – the Ultima Handicap Chase and the Close Brothers Novices' Handicap Chase.
