MIN followed the lead of his star stablemates Vautour and Douvan in making a winning chase debut in the same race and just as stylishly.

Ruby Walsh set out to make all on last season's Supreme Novices' runner-up and when he asked the 1-3 favourite for just a little lengthening Min quickened right away from Three Wise Men (20-1) to start his chase career in thrilling fashion.

Walsh said: "I was suitably impressed. He jumps very well, sets himself and organises himself – I don't have to do anything."

Asked for early comparisons with the two previous winners, he added: "Min got beaten in the Supreme – the other two didn't."

Min was closely followed early by Fire In Soul, Edwulf and Three Wise Men and after having a look at the first he skipped round like an old hand.

He came up long once down the far side and got a shade close to the third last but as soon as Walsh imperceptibly asked him to win his race Min left them trailing going to the second-last and came home without being pushed out by Walsh.

Officially it was ten lengths back to Three Wise Men (20-1) and another length and three-quarters to Joseph O'Brien's Edwulf (7-1)

Willie Mullins said: "I thought he jumped very well for a horse having his first run over fences. He had a good look at the first but that seemed to steady him and while he went a good clip he didn't pull as much as he did over hurdles.

"I'm delighted with his performance and looking forward to his next race which could be the Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown [on December 26]. I don't see any need to step him up in trip."

Bookmakers keep Min's Cheltenham conqueror Altior 2-1 favourite for the Racing Post Arkle next March but shortened Rich Ricci's chaser from a pre-race 6-1 to a general 4-1 but BetVictor are 5-1.
