Norton off for six weeks
Franny Norton expects to be out for about six weeks after breaking his collar bone in a nasty fall at Chester on Friday.
Franny Norton: Broken ribs and collar bone.
Norton took a tumble from the Mark Johnston-trained Thomas Cranmer during the closing stages of the Dayinsure Wales Rally GB Nursery.
The two-year-old came down rounding the home turn of the seven-furlong contest after appearing to clip heels with another rival.
The 46-year-old veteran of the weighing room was taken to hospital in Chester where he was detained overnight before being released at lunchtime on Saturday.
"I've broken my collarbone and three ribs," said Norton.
"It's not too bad after what happened. It was a pretty horrific fall, but we're in one piece and we'll be okay.
"I've been discharged from hospital. I had an X-ray this morning and they were just a little bit concerned about a little bleeding on the chest, but it's nothing to worry about."
He added: "I think I'll be back in about six to eight weeks. It's one of those things, but I'm pleased just to say I'll be back in that time."
