EVEN by Aidan O'Brien's standards, 15 wins in a race is a phenomenal record and his chances of winning a 16th running of the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday look strong, with four Ballydoyle runners among the seven declared.

Capri, Exemplar, Latin Beat and Yucatan all go for O'Brien, whose winning run in the race stands at five. Casamento for Michael Halford in 2010 was the last to break his dominance.

Progressive Galileo colt Capri looks to be O'Brien's best hope, returning to a mile at the Curragh after winning a Listed race over a little less than 7.5f at Tipperary last time.

“This has been the plan for Capri since he won at Tipperary and we’ve been very happy with him since then," O'Brien told the Curragh.

Exemplar, Lating Beat and Yucatan are all madien winners, but there are presumably high hopes for them to make the step up.

"Yucatan won at the Curragh and goes back there too and Exemplar and Latin Beat are in good form," said O'Brien. "Exemplar ran well at the Curragh before winning at Galway."

Three in opposition

The three to take on Ballydoyle are Eagle Spirit, trained by Aidan's son Joseph, Escape Clause from the Jessica Harrington yard and the Dermot Weld-trained Firey Speech.

The last-named of the three holds as strong a claim as any individual runner, having finished second to Landfall in a Group 3 over this distance at Leopardstown on Irish Champions Weekend. His trainer is without a win in this race since 1995, the year before O'Brien won his first Beresford with Johan Cruyff.
