O’Grady: No options for Kitten

Edward O'Grady is considering the next plan of attack with Kitten Rock after sidestepping an engagement at Naas on Sunday.

Edward O'Grady is frustrated by the lack of options for Kitten Rock

Sixth in the 2015 Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham, the JP McManus-owned six-year-old made a successful start to his career over fences at Navan 12 months ago.

However, he was well beaten by Shaneshill at Naas in January and has not been seen in competitive action since then.

O'Grady did consider the Poplar Square Chase as a comeback target, but decided against running in the Grade Three contest due to unsuitable ground.

"I didn't run him on Sunday as I thought the ground was a little quick, and now it's going to be very difficult to find a race for him," said the County Tipperary-based trainer.

"There is no such thing as a winners' race now, you have to pitch them straight into a Graded race, and that's not necessarily the way I want to go."
