Portman still puzzled by star
Jonathan Portman has yet to pinpoint what is troubling his stable star Mrs Danvers.
The diminutive filly went through her juvenile campaign unbeaten, winning all her five races including the Weatherbys Super Sprint and Cornwallis Stakes.
She trailed home in sixth on her first run over six furlongs in France early this season and since then Portman has not been happy with her condition.
"She hasn't been 100 per cent sound since she came back from France and currently we are still looking for a diagnosis," said Portman.
"We're not a lot further forward I'm afraid, and it is very frustrating.
"We are still doing research, but we are unable to make plans unfortunately.
"There isn't much for her until July anyway. I had hoped to take her to Haydock (Temple Stakes) and now she won't be ready for anything in June.
"I've got 110 owners who want to know what is going on with her and it's quite embarrassing for me to tell them I don't know, but we're leaving no stone unturned to get to the bottom of it."
