Profitable on course for King’s Stand

Last year's winner Profitable is on course to defend his King's Stand Stakes crown at Royal Ascot.

Trainer Clive Cox has opted to skip Saturday's Temple Stakes at Haydock after the Godolphin-owned five-year-old finished a satisfactory second to Signs Of Blessing at Deauville earlier this month.

"He's not going to Haydock," said Cox.

"Last year he went from the Palace House to the Temple, but we were forced to miss the Palace House this year which meant he went to France instead.

"That meant he ran a week later and it would have all just been a bit tight.

"I was pleased with him in France and he'll now go straight for the King's Stand."
