Reel heads O’Brien Cup quartet

Highland Reel is one of four possible runners for Aidan O'Brien in the Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom on Friday.

The Ballydoyle handler has saddled a record seven previous winners of the mile-and-a-half Group One and appears to hold a strong hand once again.

Highland Reel won the King George at Ascot and the Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita in 2016 to take his tally of top-level victories to four, but he needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort in Dubai.

The other possible O'Brien runners are Idaho, Johannes Vermeer and US Army Ranger.

With Dubai Sheema Classic winner Jack Hobbs not amongst the confirmations, the home team is headed by his stablemate Journey, who has been off the track since winning the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot last October.

Charlie Appleby's Frontiersman, who missed an engagement at York on Saturday due to heat in a leg, has been supplemented by Godolphin. Appleby could also saddle recent Newbury scorer Hawkbill.

The Ralph Beckett-trained Air Pilot, Saeed bin Suroor's Prize Money, Ed Dunlop's Red Verdon and Elbereth from Andrew Balding's stable are the other possibles.
